10 Reasons Why You Should Go to the Park Even on a Busy Day
Apr 25, 2017
During our childhood days, we would often pester our parents to take us to the park. Weekends were exciting because it meant a trip to the neighbourhood park to jump around and play. However, as we grow up and our responsibilities add up, we get tied down to the chair, ending up spending hours inside a cubicle. Here are 10 reasons why you should go to the park even if it’s an extremely busy day at work.
1. A break from the sedentary lifestyle
Due to the nature of our work, we have gotten accustomed to a sedentary lifestyle. We hardly have time to do any physical activity apart from taking a walk back to the parking lot. However, going to the park can help you break away from the monotony of your daily schedule, helping you get back on track with your physical fitness.
2. Get away from the stuffy air-conditioned rooms
More often than not, our offices are fully air-conditioned and stuffy. There is a lack of pure air except in the case where your office has installed a high-quality air purifier. A visit to the park will help you get fresh air, revitalise and rejuvenate you.
3. Necessity of fresh air
Fresh air is necessary for our body to function properly. Whatever the nature of your work, you'll need to spend at least a few minutes out in the open every day, and visiting the park is the best way to achieve that. What's more? Entries to most parks are free, so you'll only be investing in your health and nothing else.
4. De-stress and relax
Visiting the park helps you calm your mind and body, thereby helping you de-stress and relax. This lets you focus more on your work the next day, helping you be more productive.
5. Social networking of another kind
Ditch those online relationship tools and switch over to the good old way of socialising. Get to know the people in your neighbourhood and who knows; you may make a new friend for life.
6. Connect with nature
Unwind and connect with nature, which will help you realise your true potential. A visit to the park on a busy day will help you relax and might give you a breakthrough with a tough problem.
7. Get out of the gym
Instead of slogging for hours on the treadmill in an air-conditioned gym, visit the park and enjoy a peaceful. If you need some vigorous exercise, you can also go jogging. If not, you can take up a few simple exercise sessions on the lawn. You'll be burning calories and be surrounded by fresh and clean air.
8. Indulge in a cheat meal
Often at work, we tend to eat salads and other healthy food or skip meals altogether to compensate for our sedentary lifestyle. When you visit the park, you can relax and enjoy a cheat meal. But make sure you don’t overindulge. Also, be careful with the water you consume at the food joints. Make sure it’s clean water or else to be on the safer side, carry a bottle of purified water.
9. Relaxation for your eyes
Long hours in front of the computer can take a toll on your eyes. Take some time off to relax by visiting your local park. Your eyes will benefit from the natural light and colour.
10. Discover yourself
Get away from all the noise and enjoy your personal space. Visit the park as the peace and quiet will help you with self-introspection. Have a clear mind while making decisions that’ll help reduce and manage your stress levels.
With all the technological advancements around us, we often forget the simple joys of life. A simple walk in the local park when you’re feeling stressed can help you relax and overcome your problems.
