Drinks To Avoid For A Healthy Summer
Sep 05, 2018
Everybody loves an icy beverage during summertime. Watery drinks also keep us hydrated and protected from the harsh sunlight during the peak of summer months. However, having a chilled drink to ease your weather woes and having a healthy chilled drink to ease your weather woes are two different things. Today, we are sharing a list of beverages you should avoid drinking during summers.
Juices with Added Sugar
Most packaged juices sold in the market are fruit based but have more additives than actual fruit juice. Since you are already taking more fluids during summer months, drinking these so called 'healthy' beverages may increase the risk of obesity and heart disease. Sugar also makes you feel less hungry, so eventually you start eating less and lose important vitamins and minerals that would otherwise keep you healthy during summers.
Soft Drinks and Energy Drinks
As they say, too much of anything is always harmful, so is the case with caffeine based energy drinks. Children and adults alike are lured by the shiny advertisement campaigns run by soft drink and energy drink makers. Consuming excess of these drinks will increase the levels of caffeine and sugar in your system. Since caffeine causes you to pee more, it will eventually lead to high blood sugar levels and dehydration.
Alcohol decreases the body's production of anti-diuretic hormone which our body uses to reabsorb water. So going on summertime alcoholic binges can leave you feeling nauseated and weak due to dehydration. It is not good for your health if you are drinking more than four standard drinks anyways, so try to limit the number of hard parties you have during summers.
So, what works if not these drinks?
Well, cool and clean drinking water is a good start. Keep yourself hydrated with regular drinks of water from your home water purifier. An RO water purifier is the best source of clean drinking water you can buy at the moment. You can also opt for gravity based water purifiers if the water quality in your area is near acceptable standards.
Additionally you can prepare watery drinks like lemon shikanji, lemonade and iced tea to give your body a healthy dose of water.
