Getting Back to Fitness Now that Diwali is Over
Oct 27, 2017
Well, the festive days are finally behind us and we have to get back to our normal routines. We know it would take everyone while to get past the enthusiasm and frolic of Diwali, but festivities take a toll on our health as we eschew our normal diet for too many sweet and fried delicacies.
Here are the 5 things you should be doing to get back your sampurna suraksha, both physically and mentally, after the exhausting Diwali celebrations.
Sleep like a boss
We lose a lot of sleeping hours during festive holidays, be it for preparations or due to night long gossip sessions. Now it is time to relax your body and get the tiredness out of your system. Sleeping in a comfortable manner will help your body in getting rid of low-energy and make you fresh and active.
Return to the Gym
We deliberately bunk from our daily workout sessions during festive holidays because there is so much stuff happening around us and we do not want to miss all the fun. It is time to head back to your personal trainer and start sliding back in your daily regimen. Be mindful that you do not take up your regular exercise schedule at once. Start slowly and build up to the previous workout schedule over a few days.
Time to get back to Healthy Food
It is also time to start reducing the amount of sweets and fried things (still lying in your fridge) from your daily diet. You can also start with a detox therapy to cleanse your body of the festive culinary binges. Eat more fibre rich foods and fruits to go with your fitness regimen.
Rehydrate your Body
Just like healthy food, your body will also need clean water to replenish and rejuvenate. The temperature is dropping steadily these days so it is advisable that you drink normal water from your home water purifier instead of chilled water from the fridge. Remember to drink water at regular intervals to keep the body hydrated and get rid of any toxins left by alcohol intake.
Complete your Work and Assignments
It is also important to stay fit, mentally. So, if office work has piled up during the festive holidays, plan your day in such a way that you can finish priority stuff quickly and have a normal work routine. This is also important from a fitness perspective as too much work can take your focus off from the tips we have listed above.
